Stonking deal from Marks Electrical, and the first retailer to drop the prices on TCL's outgoing flagship TV ahead of the arrival of the new C855K.

The 55 inch version can also be had for £573.80 via this deal : hotukdeals.com/dea…980

The 65 inch is stubbornly £1049 everywhere else.

The C845K was TCL's flagship UK model for 2023 and very well regarded. Lots of reviews online and discussion at AV Forum.

One caveat to note is that this TV did not support Freeview Play or other UK TV apps out of the box. Easily remedied with a FireStick or alternative (me, I have Sky Stream so no biggee)

All important blurb (for the 65 inch version):

    Just looking at 65 inch vs. 75 inch. I think TCL 75C805K amzn.eu/d/evYIITt might be similar. Need to weigh up size difference vs. cost. (edited)

    805 is the 2nd tier model whereas 845 is currently top tier - less brightness, fewer dimming zones in the 805. Known as the C755 in Europe, and also as the QM8B on Amazon. In all other regards it's very very similar to 845, though doesn't come with the subwoofer if you need on-board sound with the TV (although at 75 inch, I would assume you'd sort your audio out with a soundbar or AV receiver)

    Yup, totally agree. We need Costco to source some of the 845 stock. They have the 75 inch one and that's it at the moment, but they're always adding new lines. I posted a deal for the 745 (two tiers down) the other day, but that was at 55 inches only.

    Don't know about this TV but I have a different 65 inch TCL and honestly wouldn't buy another. Should have gone with Hisense as we have a smaller 43 inch and it's superb.

    Which model you have and what's your reasons?

    I fell into that trap too....

    On Amazon, worth tracking the C841K models though - identical model, just with an Amazon special model number. They're both still at old prices at present.

    I've been thinking of this as Samsung KS7000 packed in. Not sure if fuse blown or board needs changing. Just waiting for some offer. Would the HDR on this be good?
    clayts's avatar
    Author
    HDR super bright by all accounts. Depends on your needs, really.

    For critical movie watching in a dark room you're always going to be better off with OLED.

    For everything else in a normally lit living room, I'd say this will be perfect. (edited)

    Looking to buy a 65" TV and have been looking at this model and the C805. Should I bite the bullet and buy this whilst it is on sale or do you guys think it is likely to drop in price within the next 6 weeks ish?

    As I mentioned above, buying a new TV is akin to poker, especially when outgoing models are being sold off. With the 7% code now added (available until midnight) it brings this one down to £744-ish. No pressure, then.

    I think there are a few issues to bear in mind:

    - Marks are the first retailer to sway away from the 'standard pricing' found practically everywhere else on the 845 range, but it seems to (at the moment) be a Bank Holiday deal - whether it continues past tomorrow remains to be seen;

    - there is limited stock of 845s left, with the replacement 855s expected any time soon (another retailer, Reliant, already has placeholders for the 855 on their website which you can find easily via Google). I suspect when that new model does hit our shores, the remaining 845s will have significant price cuts - whether they'll be as good as this - who knows ?

    - Euro 24 is just round the corner : traditionally any football tournament is a very good time to bag a new telly at silly prices;

    - it's unclear whether the versions Marks have are the slightly older (and only slightly inferior) X1 versions, or the ones with the updated Pentonic 700 chip (aka X2, or bizarrely X8 in the UK) which is fitted as standard in the C805K;

    - LG and their repeatedly brilliant OLED deals may persuade some to take a hit on screen size and get a smaller but begtter quality TV from a 'recognised brand' (in spite of TCL's increasing dominance in the market);

    - EDITED TO ADD: this deal only comes with 2 years warranty. If Costco were to get their hands on this model and sell it for the same price, I probably would not hesitate to buy.

    I'm running a 55 inch Panasonic LED from 2015 (it was the top version of it's day, and curved too), but I have a severe case of upgrade-itis, and would like a 65 incher. For now, I'm trying not to blink.

    IMHO, the deal for the 65 incher here, especially with the 7% discount to boot, is very attractive - you're effectively slicing just over £300 off the current price, 30%. Will prices go lower ? Who on earth knows (well, someone somewhere does, but not the consumer sadly). See what I mean about poker (other gambling related similes are available) ?

    Good luck in whatever you decide. I'm hanging in there. Worse comes to the worse you miss this deal and get the 805 which is here to stay, or delay a year and do the whole thing again next year when/if the new 855 is replaced....rinse and repeat every year. (edited)

    Aha - someone who is aware of the X1 and X2 versions !

    It's the eternal question isn't it ? I know that the firmware for both versions has been updated over the air recently to V098 (and if you choose to you can install experimental beta firmwares - plenty of info on AV Forums). Not too sure there's massive difference between the two as they stand, but yeah, I would certainly prefer the X2 version using the Pentonic 700.

    D'ya feel lucky punk ? (edited)

    Been waiting for Costco to stock the 85 inch TCL TVs. They have bigger and smaller for some reason.

    I have ordered the lg g2 77 inch and cancelled and the Samsung s90c 77 inch and cancelled as think 77 is too small and I think I will be annoyed that I didn't order bigger size. The 83 inch oled are just too pricey IMO
    clayts's avatar

    There's every reason to suggest you should be able to pick up an 85C845K at a cheaper price than they're currently going for, given the 845 is an outgoing model - just a case of hanging in there.

    The price drops on the 55/65 are the first to happen, so hopefully it's only a matter of time.

    But yes, OLEDs over 65 inch enter the 'prohibitively expensive' category for sure. I'm really looking for a 65 inch, either OLED or this one, but am trying not to blink too soon, as I suspect there may be better deals to be had further down the line (especially in the lead up to the Euro 24 footie tournament).

    It's like poker, buying a TV. Sort of.

    In other news, Amazon UK have slowly started to reduce their prices on their versions of the same TV (C841K - 55 inch down to £749, 65 inch down to £949) - not to the low level of Marks Electrical, but definitely a downward trend in pricing is now starting to happen.

    Closeout madness ensues.... (edited)

    Anyone know if they charge for tv returns? Thinking of ordering this while I wait to see if anyone else matches.
